Perle Morbide
Perle Morbide entirely replaces the administration of germinated seeds for: Canaries, Goldfinches, Bullfinches, Siskins, American Siskins, Redpolls and many others birds including Exotic Finches and Waxbills.
Feeding Instructions:
Start the administration about a month before mating and continuing at least until terminated moulting. Perle Morbide can also be administered anytime during the year, two or three times a week. The quantity to be administered is "ad libitum", or rather the amount that the animals require according to the number of nestling. As the product is very appetitive for birds, it is recommended to dose at least 2 filled tablespoons per day, in two stages: in the morning and in the afternoon/evening.
Product preparation:
Remove part of the product, e.g. 2 Tablespoons of Perle Morbide and add 4 Tablespoons of water (the water should always be about twice the weight of the product). It is recommended a pottery bowl and the preparation during the evening. The product needs at least 2 hours time to absorb the water where it will almost double in size. DO NOT FEED DRY! In the morning, before feeding, add to the Perle Morbide an amount of dry Eggfood, so that, once mixed, the Perle will appear "grainy". At this point the product is ready to be fed. The product should be prepared daily.

Louie's Comments: I've been using Perle Morbide for a few years now. I use it in two ways. One, as an additive to the conditioning seed mixture prior to breeding. Then as an additive to the softfood mixure used to feed all the babies on a daily basis. Please follow the directions of mixing 1 part Perle Morbide to 2 parts water. I would not feed this product dry to birds because it will absorb water or fluids in the gut of the bird as it will try to double in size. This could dehydrate the bird. Some people feed it dry without issue, but I don't recommend that at all.
